There have been plenty of frosty nights and mornings in the vineyard during April. As the buds had not yet burst there has been no damage so far. The heated wires help at this stage to keep the buds safe.
The Chardonnay buds have started to burst, whilst the Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noirs are slowly swelling. Give them another couple of weeks and hopefully they will have burst, too
Other activities - started the year’s spraying programme with a pre-budburst blast of copper; application for a Premises Licence to be allowed to sell alcohol - quite a rigmarole;
furbishment of the new tasting pavilion (actually a shed!) - still work in progress.
And, as always, weeding under the vines.
